About us
East Devon is independently recognised as an outstanding place and so it follows that its council must also strive to be outstanding. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring that East Devon is a place that people want to live in, work in, visit and enjoy. Our ambition is to be an outstanding council which works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment for East Devon, now and for future generations.
About the role
We are looking to recruit either a System or Administration Officer or an Administration Officer, depending on the skills set of our successful candidate(s), to work in our busy business support team. Both roles will be responsible for providing administrative support within the team including dealing with customers’ enquiries and complaints in relation to the range of services offered by our Environmental Protection and Commercial Premises teams. But if you also possess the necessary ICT skills, there is an opportunity to expand this remit to take a central role in the development and ongoing maintenance of the environmental health and car parking management information systems. This will include testing new software releases: developing procedures and document templates: and providing training and support for other system users within the services.
About you
For either role you will need excellent customer service skills, together with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; and excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. You will also be proficient at communicating effectively with customers and colleagues across our Environmental Health & Car Parks service in order to deliver some of this council’s most important front line services.
For the systems element of the role you will need to be methodical and competent in the use of Microsoft Office with experience of maintaining and interrogating database software, and the ability to identify and implement changes to processes and IT systems.
