Castle Douglas and Dalry Secondary School

We are seeking to appoint a two Depute Headteachers to join the leadership team within Castle Douglas High and Dalry Secondary Schools where our priority is raising attainment through the delivery of high quality education for all of our young people. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will work collaboratively with our partners and provide vision, direction and support to all in our school communities in both Castle Douglas and Dalry Secondary Schools.
The two schools which currently provide a high standard of education within its respective communities joined together in June 2017. While each will retain their individual identity within their town and community, the management of the teaching and learning will be amalgamated to maximise the potential of staff and pupils. Imagination and flair will be required by the successful applicant to work with colleagues in the Senior Leadership Team across both sites towards the common goal of making a significant, positive difference to the lives of the young people in each.
Both schools are situated in the picturesque area of Dumfries and Galloway known as the Stewartry. It is an area with good facilities and strong communities committed to their schools. As well as traditional agriculture and forestry, renewable energy, tourism, natural and cultural heritage are all increasingly important local employers. Good housing is affordable and the area is easy to reach by car or public transport from Dumfries.

Our authority has been recognised as having a clear focus on building staff skills to improve learning and teaching, raise attainment and develop leadership at all levels.
Applicants will have proven leadership experience in secondary education and be committed to very high standards of achievement.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
