As a result of the unique and valuable contribution autonomous practitioners bring to the patient experience our team is expanding along with the hours of the service and we are recruiting for Band 7 minor illness and injury practitioner.
Our team of experienced autonomous practitioners work in our new integrated Injuries and Urgent Care area based in the Emergency Department at the Royal London hospital, rotating to the Minor Injuries Unit at St Bartholomew’s hospital.
About Us
The Emergency department has a dedicated and friendly team of nurses, doctors and AHP’s who work collaboratively to deliver a high standard of care to a multi-cultural population in East London 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The department is in the heart of a busy teaching hospital with a variety of speciality teams on site.
The practitioner team work closely with these specialists who have regular input into teaching and development, so there are many opportunities to increase your knowledge and expertise. We have had an established autonomous practitioner team for the last 20 years and have had a practitioner led service at the Minor Injuries Unit in St Bartholomew’s hospital since 1995. The team have constantly reviewed, updated and expanded their scope of practice during this time and offer one of the widest parameters of practice for Practitioners working in Emergency departments.
What we can offer you
The autonomous practitioners in our department are highly experienced, have a broad scope of practice covering a wide range of complex conditions. This is reflected in the clinical pathways we have developed, some of which have been published. You will be encouraged and assisted to advance your clinical practice in both injury and illness management. There is also the opportunity to create clinical pathways with the view to publishing your work. Your role will involve supervision of junior nurses and doctors in relation to Injuries and illness management and be actively involved in teaching programmes.
The successful applicant:
– Will be a registered nurse or Emergency Care Practitioner with a minimum of 6 months experience working in an Emergency care setting as an ENP, ECP, or Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner.
– Will hold qualifications for Minor Injury and Minor Illness module at level 6 or 7
– Will have experience of working as an independent practitioner and as part of a team.
– Will possess adequate rapid assessment and reasoning skills and work autonomously to examine, diagnose and treat adult and paediatric patients presenting with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses.
