Are you passionate about improving the outdoor environment, creating safe but exciting community spaces for people to enjoy?
We are looking for someone with the tenacity to deliver a wide range of capital projects and campaigns across Crawley for our Community Services division. A natural communicator with an understanding of working with contractors, volunteers and community organisations, you will be solutions focussed and have the determination to keep projects on track, completing them on time, on budget, and to the required standard.
You will be assisting the Community Services Project Manager to deliver projects ranging from new children’s play spaces and upgrades of Council buildings to structural improvements to our major parks and adventure playgrounds. You will also be managing Green Flag and ‘In Bloom’ applications, plus campaigns such as the Councils ‘Let’s FACE It!’ volunteering initiative, working directly with the community to improve their neighbourhoods.
Working closely with all of the teams within Community Services and Partnership Services you will have the ability to work sensitively and collaboratively with a variety of teams, quickly developing strong working relationships. Ideally you will also have experience of seeking quotations, pricing of projects and handling small working budgets.
The normal working week is Monday to Friday, but occasional evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working will also be required. It is also an essential requirement of the role to hold a full driving licence and have access to a suitable vehicle on a regular basis.
In return we can offer you the opportunity to join a busy and friendly team with flexible working and an attractive pension scheme.
If you would like an informal discussion about this role please contact Ben King, Community Services Project Manager, initially by email at ben.king@crawley.gov.uk .
