The Supreme Court welcomes approximately 90,000 visitors each year. Our front of house team help make sure that everyone who visits enjoys their experience. The Education and Visitor Services Manager will be at the forefront of developing the Court’s visitor experience.
You will manage three Information Officers who will share a passion for providing exceptional service – staffing the Court’s reception, giving tours to wide ranging audiences daily, and delivering ambitious education programmes to students and young people from across the UK.
You will provide effective management and leadership to the team, in a fast-paced environment, setting clear direction and priorities. You’ll make sure they are ready to meet the day’s demands, co-ordinating roles for visits and tours, and being the first port of call for any queries. The role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, including visitor route access, security and presentation.
You will also support the Head of Communications to organise special events and tours, as well as overseeing the venue’s programme of temporary exhibitions.
Cool and calm under pressure, you can be relied upon to work flexibly and effectively even when things get busy. The role will involve occasional delivery of tours and educational activities.
Education and outreach
Proven experience of effectively managing, motivating and developing a team of staff.
Demonstrable experience of providing excellent customer service in a pressurised visitor/customer service environment.
Experience of dealing with the public, and upholding the principals of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Experience of exercising sound judgement in dealing with a difficult situation.
Evidenced ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing, to: build positive and successful working relationships; resolve conflict; and effectively influence and negotiate.
Proven experience of planning, implementing and monitoring efficient use of resources to deliver events and a diverse range of education projects.
Experience of running education / outreach programmes.
Good working knowledge of the National Curriculum.
Experience of developing high quality learning resource materials for pupils
A good awareness of the court system and the work of The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
Previous experience of working in the Gallery, Museum or Heritage sector, or in a building of historical importance.
Postgraduate teaching qualification.
Experience of running community engagement programmes.
